Karen Hunter is a Clinical Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Independent Prescriber, with over 30 years experience in the beauty/aesthetic sector. Prior to gaining her BSc (hons) degree in Nursing, Karen, successfully managed her own business, providing beauty and paramedical aesthetic treatments, after qualifying as a Beauty Therapist in 1994.
During a gap year in 2000 Karen worked in an Aesthetic Clinic in Australia where she worked with the Danné Montague-King (DMK) skin care range, which she introduced to her own clinic on her return. The DMK Foundation then awarded Karen Best Newcomer, 2002, and the Best Northern Practitioner, 2004.
Karen also works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at North Manchester General Hospital since 2017 where she runs a weekly nurse-led clinic offering New-Fill®/Sculptra® a collagen stimulating injection, for facial lipoatrophy patients.
As a Regional Lead for the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses (BACN), a member of the Association for Nurse Prescribing (ANP) and the Complications in Medical Aesthetic Collaborative (CMAC), Karen’s ethos is to provide an individualised holistic approach to aesthetics in order to improve your self-esteem and provide natural looking results. She is committed to educating others on how to restore skin health whilst delivering safe, effective, evidence based non-surgical aesthetic procedures.
Fast forward to today and Karen is the Founder and Clinical Director of Karen Hunter Aesthetics Clinic – based in the market town of Darwen in the Darwen Osteopath’s Wellbeing Hub in Darwen, Lancashire, where she offers bespoke aesthetic treatments.
